Karen Gallman from the Philippines recently won the forty seventh edition of the prestigious Miss Intercontinental beauty pageant concluded on January 27, 2019 at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay, Metro Manila, Philippines. Karen became the first ever Filipina to win the Miss Intercontinental beauty pageant. She was crowned by last year’s winner, Veronica Salas Vallejo from Mexico. This was also the very first time that this prestigious international beauty pageant took place in the Philippines. Apart from winning the coveted crown, Miss Philippines, Karen also won four other special awards that included Miss Intercontinental Asia and Oceania continental award, Standout Beauty award, Miss Fibre Health Beautiful award and Media Favourite award at the said international pageant.
At the same event, Costa Rica’s Adriana Moya Alvarado was crowned first runner-up, Slovakia’s Laura Longauerova was adjudged second runner-up, Colombia’s Hillary Hollman clinched the third runner-up title, Vietnam’s Ngan Anh Le Au bagged the fourth runner-up award and Ethiopia’s Bella Lire Lapso secured the fifth runner-up spot. Other than the runners-up titles, several other special awards were also awarded to the candidates that performed spectacularly in different segments of the pageant. Vietnam’s Ngan Anh Le Au won the People’s Choice award, Panama’s Arlene Lukowsky won Miss Congeniality award and Best in Swimwear award, Argentina’s Celina Villalobos won the special award for Miss Photogenic and Best in Philippine Designer Filipiniana, Germany’s Olivia Moller won Best in Evening Gown award, Belarus’ Charnashei Karolina won Best Philippine Designer Evening Gown award, Peru’s Lucia Arellano won Best National Costume award and Paraguay’s Gabriela Soley won Miss Playa Calatagan award at the conclusion of this prominent international beauty pageant.
Karen is a model, TV host and singer by profession. She previously won the Binibining Pilipinas Intercontinental 2018 title at the Binibining Pilipinas 2018 beauty pageant. Along with winning this prestigious title, she also won the rights to represent the Philippines at the Miss Intercontinental pageant. Binibining Pilipinas is the biggest and most successful annual national level beauty pageant in Asia. It is also referred to as the power house of beauty queens in the Philippines for producing various international beauty queens since its inception in the year 1964. It is also one the oldest running national level beauty pageants in the world. It is run by former beauty queen and entrepreneur, Stella Marquez Araneta.
Karen was a major front runner and crowd favourite candidate for the coveted titles at both the beauty pageants she entered. She got attention for her extremely beautiful and mesmerizing face, tall and serene physique and exceptionally amazing communication skills. Her confidence and runway skills were two of her greatest strength that made her shine in the crowd.
Miss Intercontinental beauty pageant is one of the biggest and oldest running international beauty pageants in the world. The pageant was first held in the year 1971 in Aruba. This year’s event was attended by candidates from 87 different countries and territories. The pageant was hosted by Billy Crawford and Sarah Ndanu and co-hosted by Kumi Miyamae and Hector Joaquin Colon Gonzalez. The Miss Intercontinental Japan Organization played the crucial role of bringing the pageant to the beautiful nation of the Philippines.
